I needed the Exercise
This weekend we are celebrating the Queens Official Birthday (or Burpday) with a street party on Sunday. As we have chosen to close the street between the pub (The Bull Inn) and the church we discovered, to late to change the venue, that the road closure involved diverting traffic on the A15! High Street is apparently an official ‘through road’. It’s cost a fortune in road signs – could not hire nor borrow.
The warning signs need to be some distance from High Street, and in preparation for Sunday morning I set out this morning, sickle and sharpening stone in hand, to cut back the chest high grass in front of the crossroad signs so that our signs can be seen. The main photo is to the south – the grass was chest high there, and the inlay to the north – only knee deep there. After I staggered back to the crossroads a tractor with grass cutting equipment turned up and proceeded to cut the verges!! A conversation with the driver revealed that all the verges were being cut between Bourne and Aslackby!
Well I needed the exercise anyway!
