Benmore Garden
Backblipped for 2nd June
We are not taking a long holiday this summer as we don't seem to have enough days to string together to do so for a while so are taking a few short breaks.
So today we drove to Benmore Botanical Garden, which is part of the Edinburgh Botanical Garden group, so see their collection of Rhododendrons, among many other interesting features (see extra).
The formal garden is under reconstruction owing to a Phytophthera infestation of the conifers, so these will be removed, giving the opportunity for a completely different planting scheme. In the centre is an armillary sundial, which reads the time as 'the strongest shadow on the inside of the equatorial ring', which, as the photo shows, is perfectly correct.
We then checked in at our B&B in Dunoon and partook of a sublime evening meal at Livingstone's.
