Loving Lisbon

Heck, I love this city. Lisbon - what a privilege it is to live near enough to visit frequently, I hope...

So many photos, wish I could show you them all, but I am a total fan of wide arcades, and the pigeon decided it - so you get the east side of Praça do Comércio. We had just emerged from the Lisboa Story Centre, which includes a rather graphic depiction of the earthquake, tsunami and fires that totally decimated this part of Lisbon in 1755 (worst earthquake to ever hit Europe), not to mention the burnings at the stake here during the inquisition, and the assassination of King Carlos I and the Prince Royal.

So it was quite a relief to encounter nothing worse than flirting waiters and sunburnt tourists.
