Mrs Eider

During a walk today we came upon a few nesting Dunters; Somateria mollissima.  Most of them briefly left their nests.  All of the nests were above a rocky foreshore and tucked into the growth immediately underneath a dyke.  The briefly exposed nests were a hollow snugly lined with grey down and brownish grey feathers.  But this one sat tight and allowed us the privilege of seeing her close in; she also had one chick that popped its head out.

On the way home we called in past Tranquillity Gardens to check out their plants.

CMC is now busy baking for tomorrow’s Community Café.
