Small Heath

This Small Heath was posing nicely between heavy showers today as I was carrying out a survey of a lovely unimproved fen-meadow that has been discovered locally. I'm hoping it can be added to the list of County Wildlife Sites. One of the special features is lots of Pignut and plenty of Chimney Sweeper moths that use this species as the larval food plant.
