Peony Single & 'miracle'
First time bloom for this peony... queen of the garden took three years from planting to bloom. They are expected to live 20 or 30 years in one place -- after I am gone. Or so I expect.
The 'miracle' part of this blip is that green yew with the flower. The alternating frosts and warmings this spring turned all my evergreens brown and dead-looking. Although yews are said to be very hardy (to zone 3 as in the near arctic) it too had all browned needles. And now, it just greened up all by itself! One of Nature's miracles!
