Fly orchid

It's been many years since I saw one of these fly orchids. A small, easily overlooked plant, but on close examination its fly-sized flower does bear an uncanny resemblance to a glossy insect. They rely on this to attract real insects to come and trans-pollinate them. It was a surprise bonus on a visit to Hillfield Friary in Dorset, which had its gardens open for charity.
