Rufus

Travelled to the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff to see Rufus Wainwright. My 10th or 11th time in four years. I'm starting to lose track. I've lost count how many times. Let's see. Bath x 2. Bristol. Edinburgh. London. Warwick. Coventry. Hackney. Cardiff. Hmmmm. I'm sure I'm missing somewhere. Anyway I loved it of course.

I usually go on my own but the last few concerts I've met up with other fans I've either met at a show or on social media. It's nice to meet others who "understand"! People travel from all over Europe to see him. I'm lucky he tours so hard and usually comes to the UK. I'd like to see him in a smaller venue in the states though. He has the most fans in the UK I think. I like his level of fame but he wants more.

My point is that I would never have waited on my own at the stage door but felt brave with the others. He did come and see the dozen or so of us who were waiting and he was so charming! I have a photo with him but this one I took after that. He was exactly as I thought he'd be. I'm looking forward to Bristol in July.

Notice the security guard at the back? He was not giving anything away and not encouraging us at all. He was clearly bemused!
