Flooded Swimming Pool

I don't think a day goes by without a weather catastrophy happening somewhere in Germany and much of it here in the south, including several deaths. Many of the scenes are out of some third world, unprepared, lack of any structure, back of beyond area and nor super rich Bavaria.

We luckily continue to be spared any flooding - cant quite believe it`although must say the forecast is that there will be no change for the foreseeable future and flooding/damage can happen virtually anywhere.

Tonight our fridge gave up the ghost. I think it must be around 30 years old. Was here when we moved in 16 years ago and looked old then.Try living without a fridge! I do remember my grandmother having a block of ice dlelivered one a week and placed in a metal lined box on top of a wooden cupboard, cold air sinking downwards and cooling the contents. These were the times when the bath tub was in the kitchen and Friday evening  while Granny cooked a wonderful meal on the coal fired stove, I was forced to take the weekly bath and have her chat to me about the Schnitzel and sautéed  potatoes with bacon bits.
