Queen Anne's Lace
A much prettier name than that given by Linnaeus in 1753, Daucus carota!
It is, nevertheless, related closely to the carrot. There are masses of it growing along the side of the new road through the wetlands, together with other wildflowers and I think it has probably been sown deliberately. Again, this is a Eurasian native and was brought in by the colonists and is now naturalized.
Another warm day. It pays to be up and about early if you want to be in the garden watering. Watering is essential for plants in pots and baskets which get dried out in the hot afternoon sun.
In the extra is a close up of the flower.
