Ben Vorlich
So I have had some trouble drinking alcohol for a while now due to stomach issues, and now only drink vodka as I seem to have a tolerance to it. However, either my stomach has got worse, or I lost my tolerance after a while of no drinking (most likely). So the very small amount of alcohol I had the night before (about three units) meant that I was up all night with stomach cramps and felt horrible the next day.
However, by the time I properly woke up, Sam (who I was picking up from the train station) was already on his first train. So I packed up my things and headed out of Edinburgh to drive to Ben Vorlich!
The walk was really really hard. I struggled even up the first 100m and it took me ages to get up Ben Vorlich. Thankfully Sam was extremely patient and was happy to wait, and we even made it over to the second munro - Stuc a' Chroin.
Although exhausting and probably not the best decision, I was glad that I did it! We even had time to stop by at the most beautiful open garden in Ardvorlich with hundreds of rhododendrons. It was very wild, with a river running through the centre, and lots of wild plants. Unknown to us it was actually closed for the year and it costs to enter - thankfully we arrived so late that no one noticed (the gate was unlocked and there was only a sign that said "open garden" so we thought it was fine!)
I then decided to head back to St Andrews for the evening instead of wild camp due to still feeling ill. We stopped for fish and chips on the way home, and then I collapsed in bed!
