Orkney day 11: a lot of bull
Cold and grey and a spot of retail therapy first of all. I bought a knitted head warmer thingy and some mitts and put them on straight away!! I understand now why they're so popular on Orkney. Thus equipped we then did the walk around the Ness at Stromness, blustery but pleasant and very interesting. The are as just littered in wartime stuff - pillboxes, ship wrecks, batteries. Hard to imagine what an important and strategic place it was during world wars.
I have to say the bulls here are colossal!! They look quite relaxed surrounded by their girls and offspring and seem to enjoy a tranquil and pensive life. The calves in contrast are teeny and frisky.
