Long Reads and Long Colds
The long cold seems endless but there are signs of improvement.
My brain, which the cold seemed to have turned soggy, is waking up again. I didn’t actually set foot outside the house but I did read three Guardian “long read” articles and a good issue of The New Yorker, with an 11 page article around a trip to Antarctica, 7 pages on Jeremy Corbyn, and several other excellent shorter pieces.
I do like these longer articles as so much of what I read on the Internet seems to be short pieces, designed for people with a very short attention span, or, more worryingly, designed to reduce people’s attention span.
Anyway, the thinking seems to returning to normal speed. Let’s hope the body shortly follows the example.
