Scarborough
It's been a long week. I started it with a sore throat, lost my voice on Wednesday and was really poorly for the rest of the time. Goodness knows how I didn't have a sickie day off. I gotta say I wasn't feeling up to a trip to Leeds to Rosemary's Mum's and the ITU triathlon.
Fortunately, waking up this morning I didn't feel too bad! Rosemary had to sleep in the recliner chair as I had a few coughing fits in the middle of the night and she couldn't sleep!
After breakfast, we pedalled to Temple Newsam for ParkRun…..Rosemary smashed it and was easily first lady on a tough course. I was a little bit grumpy due to the off-road nature of the cycle home…..despite me having road tyres. However, it beat having maniacs try to kill us in their cars and it was quite pretty too.
We had a quick cuppa and then set off to the train station with Rosemary's mum, for a day trip to Scarborough. Getting on the train was quite traumatic as the races were on in York. We were at the least busy train door…….but Rosemary and her mum thought that there must be a better carriage to get on….For a minute I thought I was in Mumbai and would have to climb onto the roof! The ladies got on but I couldn't see how I could so scuttled along to another carriage and squeezed myself in. We were reunited in York when the train emptied.
First stop in Scarborough was lunch, which was pretty yummy. Then we headed down to the harbour, passing the masses who looked as though they were on a Cash Generator staff and customer day out. I hadn't seen so many unhealthy people since my last trip to Motherwell.
Then it was down to the beach…..I chickened out of the swim for a multitude of reasons, but Rosemary happily swam up and down for a good 25 mins. Then it was time for cake and the train home!
