Scarlet Tanager--Wings/Tail Spread!

Back to Mt. Holyoke again--as it opened (just 9 am). A really good range of birds today, of which this male scarlet tanager was the best.  He hung around for several dozen shots, spreading his wings and tail here just as far as he could. The extra gives a good profile look--the white fluffiness along his breast suggest he may be a young bird.

We also checked in on the ceruleans--for the first time I captured both parents at the nest (2nd extra), with the dad (on the right) feeding one of the four nestlings; the greenish object just to the left of the little one's bill is probably food--most likely one of the ubiquitous green caterpillars.
