Sunrise, Cannock Chase

It may not be the longest day but in this part of Britain sunrise does not get appreciable earlier.  I made it (mad fool that I am!).  Headed up on to Cannock Chase after waking at 4:00 am and seeing some clear sky to the east.  

Afterwards, I headed down to Chasewater to watch the start of the Ironman 70.3 Staffordshire.  Hats off to these participants, more than 2,000 of them, almost half of whom were doing this length of event for the first time (a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride and rounded off with a half marathon).  There are some extra shots on Flickr.
