Life through the lens...

Market Day

The first of many French markets we will be visiting this holiday.
This one was in Tournon, before setting off on the rest of our journey.
Not too big, and lots of local produce.
Our only purchase, as we have quite a way to travel, was kilo of cherries, grown just up the road, for 2 euros.
As well as a wine growing area, this is a fruit area.
Lots of orchards of cherries, apricots, and peaches.

A very hot day as we drove down to Provence.
We use the D86on the right hand side of the Rhone River.
A lovely road, through small villages, orchards, vines, and without all the motorway traffic.
A very leisurely way to travel.

When we arrived, lunch was sat outside with the locals in a small cafe in a village called Roaix.
Just had a pizza each as we were still quite full.
Why is it that the French make the best pizzas?
The bases are so, so thin, and lots of very flavoursome topping, whatever you choose.
Nice brown crispy edges too.
We both cleared our plates.

Just collected a couple of bottles of wine from the local co operative in Rasteau, and then to Vaison la Romaine, where we will be for the next two weeks.

Perfect weather. Sunny 26c. Bliss.
