Summer Sunday

60 years ago today, work began on Britain's first motorway, the Preston bypass - the first part of what would become the M6.

Today The Mall was a scene of celebration, colour and happiness for the final stage of the Queen's official 90th celebrations. It was a supreme example of well-orchestrated Britishness, and not even our fickle weather could dampen the event.

In tragic contrast, the dreadful massacre in America was a chilling reminder of the dangerous world we live in. So many lives criminally ended.

A calm domestic Sunday for us, which included encouraging our kittens to socialise with the dog. They're still wary, but they seem to be acclimatising.
