High Country bound
We must be mad! We set off in the rain. I was well stocked on cold remedies and we had all the warm clothes and bedding we could get our hands on.
As we got to the High Country, we began to climb. First we hit fog, then tiny hail stones which soon turned to snow. The frost on the branches was amazing in the barren landscape we slid our way through.
Several creek crossings, during one of which our headlights filled up with water and the bonnet of the Cruiser was submerged for a short while. It was exciting and Mr B was relaxed and happy as he steered us through the hairy bits. I have to admit, as long as he's relaxed, I am too. He's been doing this for a long time. It's when he gets tense that I have to force myself to try and stay calm!
We found a quiet camp next to the creek and set about lighting a roaring fire. I managed to twang my back 'helping' Mr B unpack the car! So that meant I was about as much use as a chocolate teapot from there on.
Mr B was a total star, setting up our beds with swags, sleeping bags and duvets. We girls even got hot water bottles! We sat by the fire and at about 8.30 pm, I decided to tuck in. Dosed up with painkillers for my back, I soon dropped off and was toasty warm.
My husband has been the best this weekend. Little Miss and I felt so loved and so looked after.
Night all.
