Canterbury Cathedral from The Marlowe Theatre

Two shots only today. We travelled back from Dorset/Devon today. We'd liked to have stayed longer but the next three weeks are very busy with trips and weddings that we needed the time at home. I wasn't hopeful for a decent shot today as I always find travelling a challenge for finding blips.

We stopped at Stourhead for coffee and scones to break the journey and I did find subjects there again but today's subject came from The Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury where we went to see the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. The performance was almost sold out back in April, we managed to get the last three available tickets in a row and thought it worth the making the effort to go to the concert even after a long drive back from the West Country.

And indeed it was worth the effort, such a wide range of music played with virtuosity, enthusiasm and great fun and wit that really engaged with the audience. We didn't take our ukes to this performance although at the Proms in 2009 over 1000 of the 6000 audience at the Royal Albert Hall took their ukes and participated in mass strums with the Orchestra. It's on YouTube as are many of their performances.

Afterwards they all came out to the front of the theatre to sign copies of their CDs and DVDs and to chat to people about all things ukes. One performer, Peter, at 6 foot 8 is a good 3 inches taller than me.

The Marlowe also provided today's blip and I'm not sure which I like best. so you have both. I'm hoping the shot above leads you into the picture, just as Huw suggested yesterday and makes you want to go around the corner and explore the area and visit the Catherdral.
