Round about 1529, Henry VIII ordered the restoration of the servants areas in Chirk Castle in Wales. (Originally built in 1510 in the reign of Edward 1st.)
This servants room remains pretty much unchanged since then.
It's one of my favourite rooms in the castle.
The shapes, tones and shadows remind me of paintings by Vermeer.
