This was taken before the rain started......and hasn't stopped since :-(

This flower ( not sure what it's called ) used to grow at the side of our pond which sprung a leak and was taken away ages ago.  The bare corms/tubers and roots were put into a bucket at the time with no earth or anything and unfortunately packed away into the garage and forgotten about.  The following Spring we were having a clear out in the garage and noticed these 'things' in a bucket that were sprouting green shoots, despite being kept in the dark with no water.....we had no idea what they were at the time because neither of us could remember putting them in there. We decided that as they were clinging so hard to life that we would give them a chance, we planted them in the ground and waited to see what developed. They subsequently grew strongly and flowered with no special care or attention and have reliably done so now for more than 20 years, despite being nowhere near water...........now that's what I call resilient and adaptive  :-))
