Hagia Sofia

Day 2. Went wandering around the historic and touristy centre where the two famous mosques are. It's changed a lot in 10 years. All very modern now. I'm not sure I like it. It had more charm back then. This is sleek in places, but not always chic. Lots of men wanting to take me to their carpet shops - that hasn't changed. I've got my eye on one - the more shops you visit, the more you learn. Six weeks to decide.
I then got hopelessly lost trying to find a recommended kebab place. But, it was a good walk around a local area until the rain came. Rain! We don't get that in Cairo. Thank goodness for gps on my mobile. I bought cheap strawberries, found the team and then the kebab shop. I was hungry. Then Turkish sweets and a tram and walk home.
Up the five flight spiral staircase and home safely.
