Flag Day

June 14th is flag day in the U.S.  A day to commemorate the adoption of the flag which happened in 1777.

Seeing all the flags at half-staff stirs up a variety of emotions; sadness and anger among them.  There is so much that disturbs the rational thinking person.  I don't know how we can justify allowing ordinary citizens to purchase assault weapons - they're not for hunting and not for protection.  I will never understand the gun enthusiasts who can't see the outcome of how other countries have handled the same issue.

I am overwhelmed at the loss of life in Orlando, FL this week.  A singer signing autographs?  49 people at a nightclub, having fun?  I can't imagine how Omar Mateen's family feels as they mourn his death and the deaths he has caused.  As well as Kevin James Loibl's family, the man who killed the singer Christina Grimmie.  How can anyone ever come to terms with that?
