REGENT THEATRE BRISBANE

I was in the city today and had a look around the magnificent foyer of the old Regent.  Can you imagine going to the movies  through all this glory in 1929 to see a black and white Charlie Chaplin?  Here's what Wikipedia says of it:
'The Regent Theatre is a heritage-listed building, Brisbane, Queensland,). It was one of the original Hoyts' Picture Palaces from the 1920s.  The once magnificent 2,000 seat Regent Theatre, Brisbane, ca. 1955 (now internally demolished)
It was constructed as the first and only American-style picture palace, reflecting the opulence and grandeur of the great Hollywood era, to be built in Queensland, and was one of many operated by Hoyts in Australia.

The picture palaces were built to imitate Hollywood's Golden Era and were designed to function as a cinema and theatre. It was erected in 1929 Construction costs totaled ₤300,000.[2]
