The beauty of the churches in Italy is that the front door is often conceiled by a curtain, or a wall, so no light is coming in.

I like the sparse light that comes through it.

This was the most extraordinary church I've ever seen. Full of strange statues, more like puppets. It seems that they are rescued by faith from death. All the puppets are representing some sort of rescue. More photos are here.
