home grown

When we moved 6 years ago, I was delighted to find a rose bush amidst the weeds along the side of the house. I had no idea how to care for it, other than trimming away the weeds so it would get some sunlight. At first I didn't cut the roses, thinking they would have a longer life outside than in one of my vases. But I soon learned that the deer like to eat the rosebuds just as they are about to open. So for a week or two in June I have fresh cut roses, just in time to celebrate our wedding anniversary/Hubby's birthday/Father's Day.
