Stig of the dump
While we were at Mum's yesterday, Mr A liberated a chimney pot from the ex-communal garden.
What was once a lovely landscaped area with mature shrubs and fruit bushes, is now an overgrown jungle.
The land used to be rented to the residents for their use but has recently been sold to developers who have been granted planning permission for 2 bungalows to be built on the site.
Most of the neighbour's have been busy digging up shrubs and plants before the developers move in with diggers and bin the lot!
Mr A only wanted the chimney pot, he joked he was like Stig of the dump rooting about to see if there was anything else he could reclaim!
So we now have this little display on the patio. The tall chimney is what he got yesterday. The smaller pot in front I found in the garden when I moved here.
The pepperpot on the top of the steps is off eBay and the steps were taken from the skip next door when Eileen died and they cleared the house.
He's painted them to match the picnic table and garden crate.
Most of the pots and the bricks have been reclaimed and planted with sedum, as has the glass bowl on the shelf.
The shelf is an offcut of scaffolding board, leftover from when he made the table and benches a few weeks ago.
He's not head gardener for nothing!
