this is Melissa, the other half of Byron (such a strange expression, that: 'the other half'). she is tiny and fierce and went to school to study art and photography. her and Bryon make such a beautiful/fun/witty couple and it would be nice to hang out more. but, alas, coordinating the hectic schedules of so many different people all working on different projects is something akin to moving mountains, as they say. however, it was good to see her tonight on the ride.
yes, the ride! it was the last Friday of the month. which means... it's Critical Mass time! had been a while since I've been on a local group ride. between school, a few Austin trips, illnesses, general life busyness. doesn't mean I haven't been riding (though that could be upped too), I just haven't been riding with the Night Riders and/or Critical Mass folks (who are the same, more or less). great route though this evening. lots of great hills and not too much car traffic. magnificence.
came back in and hung out with Leah and Kathryn who were watching the opening ceremonies. a mix of hilarity and fascination, it sounded like. I caught the tail end--that was my assessment as well. we found our USA yuppie yachting blazers a bit much and the berets didn't make a whole lot of sense. i bet you all over there have some good stories to share about all of this, eh? out with it.
cheers, friends. ride on, ride strong. night.
