Robin's Pincushion

The Robin's Pincushion or 'Bedeguar Gall is caused by the larvae of a tiny gall wasp, Dipoloepis rosae, that lays its eggs in the new stems of wild roses during late summer, . The grubs inside the gall feed on the host plant throughout the winter and emerge in spring as adults. The adults reproduce asexually and only a tiny number are male.

The extra is of orchids found in the Avon Gorge - they have  spotted leaves
