Hen Party

As we paused at the carpark in Lochearnhead on our way to Ardnamurchan a hen arrived to bid us welcome, shortly followed by another, then another, and another.
Unluckily for them we were not intending to picnic so there were no leftover crumbs.

The extra photo is our B&B shortly after our arrival: we were shown to our room, then before we could unpack, were asked to go outside as there was a fire. Two fire engines arrived, then a fire chief, then the local policeman. We stood, with other guests, amid the midges, watching smoke billow from the kitchen door. It appears the cooker hood had an electrical fault, which set fire to the grease in the filter, and was nothing to do with cooking on the hob. With help from the electrician, who isolated the damaged appliance and restored the power to the house, plus one of the firemen (all live locally), who returned with his wife after his shift to help clear up the mess from the powder extinguisher and smoke, reasonably normal service was resumed. This proves how a small community pulls together to help out in an emergency.
