Trying to get to Sweden ....
Well, I was all packed for going to Stockholm in the evening and then I heard that Swedish Pilots are on strike! Exactly THE day when I am planning to go to Stockholm ......!
I originally planned to finish work timely and to drive to Edinburgh to catch my flight. This flight was cancelled on the SAS website, but as per Edinburgh airport it was still going .... hmmmm . I thought there was still hope, but was not really convinced, so checked what other ways would be left in order to get to Sweden in time ...! Not many ....
I was in touch with my friend who was already there and decided that I will drive to Edinburgh anyways in order to see what it happening and if there are any options. In the meantime also Edinburgh Airport had found out about the strike and registered the flight as cancelled.
In Edinburgh I parked my car at the pre-booked carpark (100 GBP for 4 days) to have it at least used for a bit, and went to customer service. They had not option and told me that SAS had booked me on the next day with arrival at STO at 6 pm .... which would be after the time I was needed.
Only other chance was Norwegian Airlines at 9 pm with 7 hrs lay over in Oslo and an 7 am flight from Oslo to STO.
Hmmm ...... not the most attractive connection!
After a bit of communication with Stefan, I learnt that the flight as well as a Hotel would be paid by the customer.
So I booked and left Edinburgh at 9 pm, arrived in Oslo at midnight and had about 4 hrs sleep before I had to leave for the STO flight .....
While spending so much time at EDI airport, I had some time to stroll around and take some pictures.
Loads has happened since I was there last! The Tram actually exists!
The Airport was very different since I flew from there last maybe 2.5 or 3 years ago.
The Blip is actually old part of it, but it also shows where the tram comes in.
