One Maggot at a time..........

Unlike the Magpies or the pigeons who tend to sit on the rim of the bowl and gorge themselves, this little guy cautiously flits his way towards the bowl, peers in and jumps back in suprise at the sight of the wriggling maggots within.

After a couple of approaches he has the confidence to settle on the rim of the bowl and eventually help himself to one of the maggots.

He goes through this performance on every visit, takes a single maggot and heads for the relative safety of the nearest tree or bush to enjoy his meal.
