bears and food

we do sometimes have anorexic bears and their appetite does decrease over winter but generally BEARS LOVE FOOD
I wandered down to house 2 this morning to see the bears let out into their enclosure - food scattered and hidden everywhere so it takes them time to find and eat it all - we try to extend their foraging and eating time so it is more like what they should be doing in the wild
the sight and sound of 22 bears thundering outside at full gallop (even the amputees) always makes me smile - they all find something and hunker down to eat it - some doing a contented hum, others doing a childlike moan as they eat which is sort of a warning to the other bears to stay away.....
most bears focus on the food first and then go back for the enrichment (toys, iceblocks, smears, browse etc) - some though find a toy they just can't resist.... its a very busy time of the day
