Oversharpened
I'm the first to admit it - but the lens was at its fullest extent and the light was failing rapidly.
This is one of my very favourite small birds - the Eastern Spine Bill. It's very difficult to photograph. They frequent this SaIvia all year round, and they are tiny, shy and the master of staying hidden. So to see this one in the open was such a coup. I've been in the garden most of the afternoon, and I knew the birds were around, because the bush shakes in a certain way when they are feeding; but to actually see one is something else.
And if the Rower asks me if I have been training - no not in the gym, but I've been digging very hard, so I feel quite virtuous.
