Depart

A promenade performance where 'the living and dead can meet' - Depart was bewitching experience. I'd never been to Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park but it was the star of the show: overgrown and crumbling tombstones under a canopy of dense woodland criss-crossed with intriguing little paths. We were led through it at dusk by black-clad figures with lanterns, accompanied by a veiled choir. We came upon ethereal performers dangling from trees; atop graves and projected onto tombs. It was deliciously spooky, perfect for washing away the week!
