Pierre administers the "six thou tap" whilst removing the old wooden window, before replacing it with the lovely hand-crafted new one he'd made for us from scratch.

Interestingly we'd been advised (by a uPVC peddler) that if we replaced with plastic, then it would last forever. But, it wouldn't have stood the slightest give (six thou, or otherwise) and we needed a new lintel.

So, we employed Pierre and as he put his new wooden window in, pointed out that the old lintel had stood the test of time and it was fine. Ah, how we love tradition in this house...
