Wonderful Art Trail

One of my friends from the Gym is a very talented painter, and a member of many art societies (or maybe that should be a "fellow").  She gave me a leaflet about an Art Trail that was being held today and tomorrow in Sutton Coldfield. (just outside Birmingham)

I asked another friend if she wanted to come along, and we visited all seven of the locations (and Aldi en route) to enjoy the original work of local artists.

Venue number one was in the Gracechurch Shopping Centre - very varied. Sculpture, textiles, and painting. Some lovely work there.

Venue number two was, for both of us, the highlight. It was the garden of a charming house, nestling close to the lake in Sutton Park. My friend was particularly impressed with the work of the friend who had invited us. She fell in love with a beautiful painting and bought it on the spot. Needless to say, it was a very happy meeting for all of us. We were all thrilled and my friend couldn't wait to get home to hang the painting where she knew it would be perfect.

The blip today was taken at the bottom of the garden, where I would spend hours if I lived there. Imagine being on the spot for a stunning sunset ! The owner of the house was another talented artist with a particular interest in African art and sculpture. She even has a statue of a life size giraffe at the bottom of the garden - magic.  I could have been very seriously tempted to spend too much there. Extra photo - part of the pond to the right of the shot.

The Art Trail is on again tomorrow from 10.00 to 4.00, if there are any West Midlands blippers who would be interested
