Miners' Memorial Garden...
We visited Jess and Nathan today.... bacon and egg butties... followed by home made Oreo cupcakes..... oh my.......trying to breathe in right now! :O
A visit to the nearby National Coal Mining Museum for a walk around with Chi Chi... where there is a new memorial garden dedicated to lives lost in the mining industry.
I liked it... designed by Stephen Broadbent.... Lives lived, lives lost a metal structure holding symbolic coloured discs... some of the dedications read:
'Samuel and David Brooker - brothers 14th May 1937, Medals for Littleton'
'Pretoria Pit Disaster - 344 died 21st Dec 1910 - Over Hulton, Lancashire'
'Kettlethorpe High School - garden supporters'
What an industry... what a history...
Home via Lupes Sat Nav.... ne'er mind... always a varied journey! :)
