Nor’wester Light

The sky was heavily overcast, with just a sliver of clear sky between the mountains and the Nor’west Arch. Golden light from the setting sun glowed through the gap, saturating colours against the dark blue-grey clouds.

This phenomenon occurs occasionally with a nor’west wind and is greatly loved by the people of Canterbury, NZ, who live under the Arch.

The white Banksia rose is confused by our erratic weather and is blooming in winter instead of late spring.
