Mozzarella in the making
Sunday afternoon visit to the local buffalo farm. As you do. See here for the history. They haven't actually made any mozzarella yet, too busy running the restaurant, but with my apologies to the young lady here we had buffalo burgers for lunch and they were delicious. Alternative blip in extras.
It was the annual farm trail; as well as visiting the buffalo we went round a few other stalls, ate sheep's milk ice cream, bought goat's cheese and organic flour, and then came home. Unlike last year, when we were far too hot, the weather wasn't ideal, cool and windy, and there weren't many people about.
There are a lot of festivities this weekend, the nearest to midsummer, and a lot of them were spoilt by the weather. On Friday night there was a rosé festival in Fabrezan. After last year's successful inauguration, they'd foolishly sold nearly two thousand tickets this time. They didn't have any means of sheltering two thousand people from the torrential rain -- cue lots of unhappy punters who'd paid 25 euros each to get soaked. Our village event last night was slightly better off -- it was cold, but it didn't rain till after midnight. Good news for us as it mean the disco under our windows packed up early.
