. . . and a lonning
A lovely morning – blipmeet, Misty, woodland walk, orchids, good chat . . . and a lonning*!
Met up with marpaul at Finlandrigg Wood Nature Reserve, a place she goes to often, but somewhere I had not even known was there. A wonderful place for walking – Misty loves it. Saw lots of orchids and chatted a good deal.
Then I was taken to a lonning she had found – Robb Lonning. It actually leads into the Reserve but can also be accessed by a very narrow road on the other side of the wood. What a lovely, secret place. And here is Misty telling us to hurry up – you can see the path as it makes its way through the trees. A bit overgrown in places, but a very peaceful place to walk . . . and lots of flowers.
The extra picture is the entrance to the lonning. We have no idea where the name came from or why someone should put the sign up, but we thought it was rather nice. A great find - thanks Marpaul . . . and Misty.
