Remains of the day

The day was a definite improvement on yesterday; the sun came out, for a start. We went across to the Leith Market, then up to the allotment, which is looking lush after all the rain. Pity a lot of the lush-ness is in grass and weeds though!

Then we assembled a sort of picnic and went via a couple of buses to Dr Neil's garden in Duddingston where we met up with some green folk including S and J and the kids. Lovely to see them again - we figured we may not have seen S since the same event last year . F and T also turned up and we had a pleasant evening eating, drinking, blethering and wandering around the lovely garden.

Clutching our recycling and the remains of our picnics, we got a bus back from the crossroads as far as the top of the Walk where our ways divided, but Shandonner suggested a nightcap in the Windsor Buffet. On our way down Elm Row four seasoned blippers gave the glad cry of "Cigs!" at the sight of this shutter - it already features in his journal , of course, but we wished to pay homage. After a pint (oh dear, I think it was two) D and I tottered off down the Walk and home.

Extra is the novel sight of cricket being played on the Links in sunshine.
