Mother House Wren
Mother wren exits the hanging ceramic bird house after feeding her young a caterpillar. Twigs are piled high inside the house, with the nest cup within for probable protection against predators or extreme temperature. The wren has built it's own twig perch for entry and exit. This is the same wren featured yesterday.
This is the widespread bird species, ranging from Canada down to the southernmost tip of South America.
The bird house is in the shade to keep from overheating the inhabitants. Brightening up the photo is a shoe mount TTL flash used at -1 EV. The flash provided fill, reduced the ISO from 1250 to 320, and added a catchlight to the wren's eye.
