Day 171 of 366 - The Bishop and the Tower!
Today's photo was taken early this morning. I had just dropped off my daughter at Choir practice, before she sang in the Sunday morning Eucharist. While I was waiting I took a few images around the ruins of the Old Cathedral. I choose this image as I liked the way that the Bronze Tomb helped frame the Tower. The image is of the Tower and spire of the Old Coventry Cathedral in the background. In the foreground is the Bronze Tomb of Bishop Huyshe Wolcott Yeatman-Biggs. He was the first Bishop of Coventry after St. Michael's became a cathedral (now the ruined old Cathedral) in 1918. I have just read that the Bronze Tomb was the only object within the main cathedral structure to survive the blitz in the Second World War.
The photo was taken using the app Cortex Camera on my iPhone 6.
First I used the app Snapseed to edit the photo. I cropped and straightened the image, then I applied a little of the healing feature to help delete a little part of the overhang canopy that links the both the old and new Cathedrals. After this I applied the Tonal Contrast filter. I also boosted the structure and sharpening to the Tower, along with a little extra saturation, warmth and ambiance. Next I used the app Brushstroke to add the Gloss G2 paint preset. After this I used the app Mextures to add the formula called Baja Sunrise by Justin Halbert. Finally I used the app PhotoToaster to add the Sunset preset, a medium dark vignette and the Canvas texture. I then added the Charcoal frame.
