Another Visit to Hamsey
We made another trip to Hamsey this afternoon (on a rather less sunny day than on my last visit).
Once again, the church was open but we could not go in, on this occasion because it was being got ready for a concert this evening (we heard various snatches of slightly discordant 20th century chamber music drifting out on the breeze as the musicians were rehearsing inside).
We did however take a walk around the churchyard. This is the view looking east, toward the allotments below Malling Hill on the edge of Lewes, in the fork of the Ringmer and Uckfield roads, which meet at the oddly named 'Earwig Corner'.
We wondered if the occupant of the otherwise unmarked grave in the left foreground had been a champion croquet player in their lifetime...
