Lepibotany

What? I hear you say.
Well that's what I blurted out when Barry here announced the name of the walk we were about to do.
A guided walk looking at butterflies and wildflowers.
Was much fun - this is Barry the Butterfly man - we didn't see a single one btw, too cold and windy - well it is the middle of summer :-(
But I did learn the names of some grasses and tasted wild salad burnett and saw a frog and some beautiful orchids and gained a poem that helps distinguish between sedges, grasses and rushes.
Sedges have edges,
Rushes are round,
and grasses are hollow right down to the ground.
Thank goodness for the Barrys and Julias of this world.
