Red-wing blackbirds

Picked the wrong unit of the Ladd S. Gordon Waterfowl Complex for geese and cranes, and instead the pup and I had some sweet hiking and pretty scenery and many tens of thousands of red wing blackbirds. Some electrical lines were parked up bird to bird for hundreds of yards with them. This is the first bunch we saw. They were a cheeky bunch. Joe lunged at them from the other side of an irrigation ditch and they just stared at him seeming to know pups won't swim ditches at least at a speed they needed to worry about.
