vegetation surveying

We were out learning how to do vegetation surveys today with the RSPB, to evaluate scientifically any change in the vegetation in response to different grazing regimes over several years. Eleven 1km squares are being measured in the coming month, with many measurements being taken at 25 points across the monad. It requires fairly detailed identification skills and an ability to add up to 100 (when working out the percentage of each type of vegetation next to a 1m stick on the ground).

I found what is probably a grass spider (not so common up here), lots of cranberry and a immature male golden-ringed dragonfly.
