National Aboriginal Day
In recognition of National Aboriginal Day, I'm blipping this mask of a Nisga'a woman, carved by the partner of a former student. Both are from Nisga'a territory in northern BC. Nice to see our Prime Minister taking part in a ceremony to get the day underway.
I'm grateful to my Aboriginal friends for educating me, inviting G and me to traditional ceremonies seen by very few non-Aboriginals, and most of all for accepting us into their families. I treasure the relationships we have with people from so many different Indigenous nations.
I was hoping for a better blip but it's been a busy day! Our neighbour dropped in for coffee and told us all about his river cruise in France, and we have unexpected company coming tomorrow so we had prepare for that. A couple of hours watering and cleaning up the garden this morning, a visit, and some cleaning...and that was the day gone! Looking forward to a relaxing evening watching some football. :)
